No longer is simply attending a fire academy enough to move up the ranks of fire department. Fire departments throughout the United States are increasingly requiring their personnel to earn bachelor’s degrees in related fields While not a firefighting bachelor’s degree, the Bachelor of Security and Emergency Management is dedicated to subjects that every fire administrator must know. With instruction in emergency planning, disaster response, risk analysis, training and management development, grant proposals, and supervising emergency services, the BSEM degree offers a well-rounded curriculum that will develop strong and competent firefighters ready for advancement through the ranks.
