Since 9/11, there has been a steady increase in the demand faced by homeland security professionals. The ever-increasingly complex threats presented by terrorism and technological disasters has developed new challenges for these professionals.

From aviation to border security, to the FBI and Department of Homeland Security, the required skills for homeland security professionals has increased. Professionals are now required to not only have a technical background, but also to have leadership and management skills in order to be successful.

The Homeland Security concentration in the Bachelor of Security and Emergency Management program helps students develop those skills and provides them with the required knowledge to carry out those roles successfully.  From courses in homeland defense, risk analysis, human resource management and leadership in dangerous contexts, students graduate with a well-rounded background, preparing them for successful careers in the homeland security sector.
